Miller is a mixed media artist from Minnesota. She graduated from St. Cloud State University, studied fine art, and has over 15 years of studio experience.

In 2021 SammyJo moved her family to southwest Minnesota to start SJMiller Arts. Her goal in starting this business was to bring the experience of a large visual art studio to more rural communities.

While reaching out to these rural areas, Miller found herself inspired by the culture and history of the communities she was exploring.
