SCULPTURE
Experience in a variety of art mediums is what makes Miller’s approach to her work unique. She uses Metal Work, Ceramics, and Plaster when working with 3-D design.
Ceramics
Nesting Bowls
Shown in their bisqueware state, these pieces were thrown on a wheel and utilize a technique called sgraffito.
Sgraffito
a form of decoration made by scratching through a surface to reveal a lower layer of a contrasting color, in ceramics this is done in slip before firing.
Handbuilding Ceramics
Embellished Pot
made with a coil technique, this vessel was inspired by the ceramics art and jewelry design of West Africa.
One Shoe
A mixed medium ceramics piece, the work was bisque fired then painted with guache paints to create a matte finish. This piece currently resides in a private collection, in St. Cloud, MN.
Plaster
Often used in the casting process for metal work or ceramics, plaster itself can also be a medium for sculpture. It is a great way to learn carving skills, and study forms and techniques for larger projects.
MIG welding is a welding process where a wire is fed through a welding gun and into the welding area, joining the two pieces together.

Illuminate Creation
The metal casting process has many steps. Each piece goes through the process of being a clay model, a rubber mold, a wax model, and a silica sand mold, before being cast in metal.
